New Foundation to Help Develop Science and Technology Education for Girls in Africa

July 31st, 2007

Houston, TX – August 1st, 2007- The newly formed Brightest Stars Foundation announced the kick-off of the organizational website and 1st project: the Space and Science Academy for Girls.

The Brightest Stars Foundation is a new national non-profit, 501(3)(c) organization dedicated to educating, empowering and inspiring young women around the world to be future leaders through the study of science, mathematics and technology.

“Our goal is to empower and inspire girls to believe in themselves and to dream big dreams” says Camille Alleyne, founder and president.

The Brightest Stars Foundation is committed to the establishment of a network of learning institutions that educates young women in scientific and technological fields.

“This foundation will afford a first choice education to deserving girls without requiring them to abandon their families, traditions, and heritage to solidify a more prosperous future for their communities and the communities at large” says Dr. Nicole LaBeach, Vice President.

The premier project of this organization is the development of the 1st ever Space and Science Academy for Girls, a four-year college preparatory high school which will be located in Meru, Kenya near the campus of the Meru Institute of Technology.

“We are committed to harnessing the greatness of young people in underdeveloped communities around the world,” said Alleyne, “We believe that when given the opportunities through education that there is no limit to what they can accomplish. As a result, they can be the catalyst for positive and lasting change in their countries and our world.”

The new website, which launched today, serves as the home base where visitors have access to the work of the Brightest Stars Foundation and details on the construction and operation of the 1st academy in Kenya.  It was designed by the Kompleks Creative Group, a minority-owned company out of Durham, NC.

About the Brightest Stars Foundation

Founded in late 2006 by Ms. Camille Alleyne, Brightest Stars is comprised of a dynamic group of women who believe in and have experienced the unlimited power of education. Coming from diverse backgrounds these women have joined together with passion and deliberate intent to continue paving a path that will afford young girls around the world the opportunity to dream and manifest what their minds can conceive. Together, they are powerful, deliberate, dedicated, and daring in their passion for cultivating brilliance in its purest form; that which is imbedded in the mind of every child.
